A white Ford Courier was left locked and secured on Molong Road at 7.30pm, but by 9.25pm police believe the car had been stolen.
By 10pm, firefighters and police were called to the old fruit shop on Turner Crescent, near the intersection of the Northern Distributor Road and Molong Road where they found the vehicle alight.

Central West Police District Inspector Dave Harvey said it was unknown how thieves broke into the car.
He said the vehicle was destroyed by the blaze.
While car fires were a hot topic over summer, with emergency services responding to 28 fires in January and February, the spate of fires has cooled in the past two months, with Wednesday night's fire was only the second in April.

In an unrelated incident, a break and enter occurred on Anson Street on Thursday morning, with entry gained to a property between 5.45am and 8.45am with a bowl, keys, and vouchers taken.
Three men have also been charged with different offences.
On April 10, a 46-year-old man was charged with assaulting a woman in a domestic violence incident and damaging property and will appear in Orange Local Court on May 2.
In a further incident, a 23-year-old man stopped in Orange in the early hours of April 11 with gloves, a balaclava, scissors and a multitool, which police allege was going to be used to break into houses.
He will appear in Orange Local Court on May 6 and will be charged with possessing housebreaking implements.
