Buoyed by their weekend win over A-League champions Melbourne Victory, the Sky Blues host cashed-up Shanghai SIPG hoping to continue their twin title quest.

A scoreless draw in Sydney with Korea's Ulsan Hyundai followed by a 1-0 loss to Kawasaki Frontale in Japan has left Sydney FC bottom in Group H after two of their six round-robin fixtures.

Another defeat would seriously dent FC's hopes of progressing to the knockout stages and anything less than a draw would be a major blow.

But Sydney FC coach Steve Corica is only thinking of winning what shapes as a real-life David versus Goliath battle.

Boasting one of the richest rosters in the ACL, led by dangerman striker Hulk and former Chelsea midfielder Oscar - who have both been capped 47 times by Brazil - the Chinese Super League champions are a genuine Asian super power.

"Of course we don't have the budget to get the likes of Hulk and Oscar - they're a lot of money. They're more than the A-League salary-cap put together. That's one player," Corica said.

"So we can't compete with that kind of money ... but our boys have got a lot of heart, we're physical, we know what to expect from them now and we're going to put up a good performance."

Corica is making no secret of his team's plan to nullify the Brazilian threats.

"We want to try and double as much as possible," he said.

"Stop them, get bodies around them and don't give them space, which they like.

"So we've had a plan and we've worked on that."

Defender Michael Zullo is likely to be marking up on Hulk.

"It's another test. It's things you look back on," Zullo said.

"He's a massive name. There's a bit of a weight difference between us two, maybe the height as well.

"But, look, it's exciting at this stage of my career. Maybe when I was younger, it was daunting."

Corica insists all the pressure is on the visitors.

"We're the underdogs. That's normal against teams like this, with the budget that they have," he said.

"But our boiys are really raring to go and we want to pick up three points.

"It's important that we win at home. We want to move on in this competition and, to do that, we need to win against the big teams."
