There are announcements from all but one major car company of one or more fully electric vehicles being produced and launched for sale across the world.
Nissan Leaf has an installed base of 400,000 units and cannot be obtained in Australia due to high demand elsewhere. Tesla and Prius are household words across the first world.
Lots of buses in Europe are powered by electric motors, and there is an aeroplane flying around the world using an electric motor system.
China has an installed base of millions of electric vehicles, with projections for many millions more. Norway has received attention for its high installed base.
Mercedes has announced a slew of vehicles planned for introduction over the next three years. Volkswagen likewise.
Last year at this time Carsales had 42 electric vehicles for sale - now they have 262. A Victorian firm is converting trucks to electric for domestic and export customers. Harley have announced an all-electric bike.
