Council spokesman Nick Redmond said the aquatic centre's management was expanding classes to cater for extra enrolments and the final timetable of classes was still taking shape.
"There is extra capacity in all levels of the centre's Learn To Swim program for families who want to enrol in the next round of classes, which begin after the school holidays," he said.
"But like any service, it's first come-first served and people may not always get their first preference for times."
People are encouraged to enrol as soon as possible.

Mr Redmond said staff would work with parents and some families had already returned forms and deposits.
"People are encouraged to enrol as soon as possible to get the best chance of getting the time they prefer," he said.
The assurance came after mother of four Kate Curtin expressed concerns aquatic centre swim classes were full.
"Other people I was talking to were told they're full - that's in the last few weeks, I haven't heard of anyone who has been told they can get in," she said.
"I called [the centre] this morning and they said it would be a week or so before they can tell me whether [catering for all four] can or can't be done."
She was also concerned several staff from the Ex-Services' pool had not been re-employed by the aquatic centre.
Mr Redmond said the aquatic centre had committed to interviewing all swimming instructors who were interested in applying and all available people had been interviewed.
"The selection process, including pre-employment checks, will be completed by April 12," he said.
A club spokeswoman said the club was committed to upholding assurances to employees there would be no job losses and would "not be commenting further on ill-informed online commentary".
