Skillset's 2018/19 jobs and skills campaign SkillForce360 placed 428 people into employment training and the figures came at the same time Skillset has reported that the unemployment rate has dropped in the Central West from 7.2 per cent in January 2016 to 5.5 per cent.
According to Skillset the national unemployment rate currently sits at 4.9 per cent but youth unemployment was at 11.5 per cent nationally or 8.7 per cent in the Central West.
Leading placements for SkillForce 360 were in mining, construction, agriculture, forestry and fisheries, which made up 58 per cent of industry placements.
Skillset CEO Craig Randazzo said it was encouraging to see low unemployment rates across the Central West.
"While there are many contributing factors, we are proud to be playing our part by creating initiatives like SkillForce360 which contribute to the economic well-being of our regional communities," Mr Randazzo said.
SkillForce360 started in October and finished on Sunday and placements included 72 apprenticeships, 47 traineeships and 122 other jobs.
