Other regional wineries to be awarded included Philip Shaw Wines for the best large cellar door, Bloodwood Wines and De Salis Wines for the best tasting experience and Rowlee Wines for the best small cellar door. Borrodell Vineyard was awarded for great food.
Mr Robson said it was their first win in this category and followed a re-development of the cellar door 18 months ago.
The award came as Ross Hill's achievement as Australia's first certified-carbon neutral winery three years ago was back in the spotlight this week.
A Hunter Valley winery has just become only the second winery to gain the carbon neutral certification.
Mr Robson said customers were appreciative of the winery's stance on climate change.
He said Orange wineries were at the "forefront" of environmental efficiency.
"Everyone is finding their own little niche in the sustainability area. We do have a lot of organic businesses here," he said.
