I don't pretend to know the ins and outs of the Orange Ex-Services' Club committee's decision to close the indoor pool - I can only comment on how this decision will affect me and family.

Both my husband and I have been members of the club for the past 20 years. We both use the gym room located within the pool space, as well as the pool regularly, especially during winter when our chilly Orange weather sets in.
I consider it a treat to go to the pool and gym as I reward myself after the session with time in the sauna. Sheer heaven.
To those who haven't visited the pool: you don't know what you're missing. Go and have a dip.
Both our sons are also members of the club and the Polar Bears swimming club. They swim at the pool once or twice a week. The boys enjoy swimming at the club as they find the water is warmer than that at Orange Aquatic Centre's indoor pool and not as noisy.
The club is currently advertising for grants applications to assist with community services. The advertisement states the club donated $453,252 last year to worthwhile causes.
Whilst I applaud the good work, I can't help but wonder if some of these funds were filtered (excuse the pun) to improvements/repairs/upkeep of the pool, there may be the scope to increase users and make the facility more financially viable, if indeed it is losing money.
During my visits, I have seen many people at the pool as well as visitors who access the facility whilst staying at the adjoining hotel. I can't believe the club would be willing to lose what is a fantastic asset and drawcard for the establishment, not to mention the worthwhile health benefits that its members gain from the facility.
Please, please, please - I ask the Orange Ex-Services' Club's executive team and committee to reconsider this decision, for the sake of your members and visitors alike.
And to those who haven't visited the pool: you don't know what you're missing. Go and have a dip.
