A HELICOPTER was deployed to the scene of a crash north of Orange as the Mitchell Highway was closed in both directions on Saturday morning.

The incident happened at about 6.50am where a single car left the roadway.
It's unclear how many people were in the vehicle, but at least one person was trapped and needed to be freed by NSW Fire and Rescue.
According to Live Traffic, emergency services including police, ambulance and firefighters were called to the scene of a crash about 10 kilometres north of Orange.

At least one person was injured and taken to hospital via helicopter.
Roads and Maritime personnel were also on the scene, and traffic diversions were put in place before being lifted before 10am.
Motorists were being detoured via Forbes Road, The Escort Way, Peabody Road, Welllington Street, Edward Street and Hill Street and back onto the Mitchell Highway in both directions.
The diversions were suitable for all vehicles.
