The three men were believed to be engaging in a dispute about a dog belonging to one of the men when they begin physically attacking each other opposite a liquor store on Bathurst Road.
It's believed two of them began attacking the third, who fled across the road to try and escape the attack.
He entered the liquor store while fleeing and his two assailants followed him into the store.
However, once inside the store, the attendant thought they were robbing the store and called police, who responded just before 10am.
Central West Police District Inspector Dave Harvey confirmed police received a call that the store was being held up.
Several police cars were called to the incident.
Inspector Harvey said the three men were then taken into custody and will all be charged with affray.
No court date has been set.
