OPS students impressed the judges with their video which explained why they would benefit from an ActivPanel, which allows pupils and teachers to connect devices including laptops and tablets.

The pupils had to display creativity, explain their need for the technology and demonstrate the impact it would have on their school if they were successful.

In their video entry, the OPS children presented why they had a "state of emergency" with technology in the school.

Having had the ActivPanel installed in January, teacher Tanya Felice said she could already see the potential it would have on their lessons. 

"It will transform learning in our year one classroom and really make our activities more interactive," she said.

Alistair Hayward works for Promethean, the technology provider which launched the grant program in Australia in 2017.

She said the company saw an opportunity to help schools access the technology and embrace their creativity. 

“Schools are facing increasing financial pressures and at the same time are expected to create and maintain successful learning environments," she said

"We are incredibly passionate about education and believe that all schools should be able to access the latest technology to enhance learning and teaching experiences.
