Cancer Council regional manager Western region Ricky Puata said participants were invited to an information night to be held at the Waratah Sportsground at 6pm on Wednesday, March 13.
"It is an opportunity to gain information from the Cancer Council and the committee to talk through fund-raising ideas and to work out where their campsites will be," he said.
This year's event is on the weekend of April 6-7 starting from 10.45am on the Saturday.
The event raises funds for cancer research, prevention, awareness and support service programs.
It also raises awareness of cancer in the community.
"Our focus [this year] is on nutrition. Particularly focusing on nutrition for school aged children," he said.
"This year we will be having talks on the night of the relay about what constitutes a healthy lunch box."
Mr Puata said the committee was working on plans to remember Mrs Ostini who died of cancer last August.
She has been part of the Relay for Life event since its inception.
Mr Puata said her son, Bryce, would talk about his mother's journey with cancer in a speech to the relay participants on the Saturday night of the relay.
He said they were on track to have about 50 teams participating.
"At the last count we had 42 so we are definitely looking at 50-plus," he said.
Mr Puata said he expected there would be more than 600 people participating in the relay this year.
