Centrals edged out Kinross in the penultimate round, picking up a thrilling outright victory and with it moving 11 points clear of second-placed Cavaliers on top of the table.
But the red and blacks have the bye in the final round which means the minor title is completely locked up just yet, if the maroons were to do the same to the students this week they would jump ahead into first place.
Kinross started the day 4-35 in reply to Centrals' 230 an eventually succumbed for 160, before the red and blacks added another 6-58. With 129 the target for victory the students went agonisingly close to flipping the result, but eventually fell just short at 127.
In the other second grade on the weekend Cavaliers backed up their week one effort to take down Orange City.
The Warriors were 0-42 chasing Cavaliers' 216 at the start of the day and were well-placed to get the job done, but once again Stu Middleton imposed himself.
After smashing 125 last weekend he picked up innings-best figures of 3-14, incredibly from 15 overs, as Orange City eventually limped to just 103 in reply, losing 10-61 before finishing 0-78 when stumped were called after being asked to follow on.

In the third grade results available at time of publication Waratahs (7-189) defeated CYMS (74) easily while Orange City (9-139) edged home over Cavaliers (136).
The latter was somewhat of a miracle win too, considering the Warriors were 9-57 before Jack Radnedge (53 not out) and Chris Radnedge (29 not out) produced a stunning, unbeaten, 82-run last-wicket partnership to get their side home.
In Centenary Cup CYMS (6-174) upset Kinross Blue (165) and Orange City (4-191) took down Kinross Super Kings (9-132).
