It's closure is something that we frequently lament despite having plenty of other large and small retailers to chose from in Orange.
There are lots of reasons why people miss shopping in Myer and not all of them are about the range of items it offered or the fantastic sales it regularly staged.
For me and many others it was its excellent customer service.
Sure you can get good customer service when you buy your products online but you don't get the sort of customer service you experience when you walk into a store.
While some of Orange's retailers realise the value of good service others simply don't.
For me, and many people I speak to, store loyalty comes down to not only the range of products on offer, but also the level of service they give their customers.
A colleague lamented that she felt invisible in a certain shoe shop, and despite visiting it three times has never been approached and offered assistance.
There's no doubt the retail sector is suffering as online shopping, discount retailers and high rents all impact on the bottom line.
However there are a few things retails can control and one of the most important things is customer service.
cheers
