St Pat's will feature in the final of Orange District Cricket Association's Royal Hotel Cup for the first time in the club's eight-year history and captain Adam Ryan said it would be massive to with the tournament, considering it's the club's first season in the Twenty20 competition. 

"It wasn't big silverware, but last season we won the one-day shield and the Twenty20 this season, but this could be the first one for a sole competition," he said.

"It's massive considering expectations going into the [Royal Hotel Cup]. We didn't know what to expect. We just wanted to play some more cricket and see what happens.

"We've surprised ourselves. We didn't expect to be the powerhouse that we've become. We've definitely played some good cricket and relished to play under the lights with the white ball."

St Pat's Old Boys formed in 2011, after the old St Pat's and All Saints' Old Boys merged together. 

In the early years, the club struggled to hit its strides in first grade, but in recent years the club has excelled in first and second grades, thanks partly to a massive group of talented juniors.

One of those juniors who has made his ways through the grades is run-machine Nic Broes. 

"He's definitely one of our key players and we gave him the vice-captain role this season," Ryan said on Broes. 

"He's really stepped up in that front and has helped out with the fielding placements."

But Broes isn't the only talented junior in the squad, with the likes of Bailey Brien, Ethan Ivory, Ben Mitchell, Tanvir Singh and Mitch Taylor all up and coming talents. 

"We're quite lucky with the side we've got, because we're a very balanced side," Ryan said. 

"It's probably one of the better sides I've been a part of with club cricket."

St Pat's Old Boys and Orange City have already faced each other in the Royal Hotel Cup this season on January 25.

Orange City held on for a 12-run win, which resulted in the Bathurst club's only loss during the tournament so far, which featured a five-wicket haul from Orange City captain Ed Morrish. 

Ryan described that game as the worst his side has played throughout the tournament. 

"We probably saved our worst cricket to play against them on that occasion," he said. 

"Saying that, they'll have confidence knowing that they've done it before against us. We'll probably be underdogs going in because of that.

"They've got some good players, some of them playing in the Orange rep team. Their captain also did a lot of damage in that first game, taking five wickets, especially from our top order.

"We need to make sure we respect those good balls and don't throw our wickets away. Even though it's Twenty20, we still need to bat out our 20 and hit a good score."

The match between the two gets underway at 7pm, from Wade Park.
