Officers from Central West Police District started investigations after receiving information into a counterfeiting operation within the Central West area.

On Wednesday police officers executed a search warrant at a home in Molong.

Police say they located and seized a number of items, including ammunition, counterfeit money, counterfeit manufacturing items, prescription pads and prohibited drugs.

Police said they also found other personal items in relation to alleged break, enter and steal offences which occurred at two residential properties in Orange between August 11, 2018, and February 7 this year.

Following inquiries, about 3pm on Wednesday 32-year-old Karl Murray Short attended Orange Police Station where he was arrested.

He was charged with four counts of possessing ammunition without holding a licence/permit; three counts of having goods in personal custody suspected of being stolen; three counts of making counterfeit money or prescribed security; three counts of possessing counterfeit money; and possessing counterfeiting materials.

Solicitor Mason Manwaring made the bail application in front of a registrar.

He said the matter is likely to remain in the local court and if Short pleads not guilty it could be months before a hearing is held, and a custodial sentence was not guaranteed.

Short is yet to enter a plea and could make another bail application in Orange Local Court on Monday.
