The all abilities swimming carnival had attendees of LiveBetter Orange's race against attendees of LiveBetter programs in Parkes, Dubbo, Bathurst and Forbes.
The intercity event saw points awarded for freestyle, breaststroke, relay and novelty races.
Orange's LiveBetter team won 10 firsts, enough to put them in the top spot at the end of the day.
Team Leader from LiveBetter Vocational Services' Kristen Hunter said the event had been happening every March for 10 years, with the number or participants growing each year.
She said the atmosphere on the day is one of fun and celebration, especially as the groups have all gotten to know each other over the years.
"There's lots of hype, lots of encouragement and lots of support for each other," she said.
"More want to take part each year due to the friendships they've formed with people from the other towns and the chance to catch up."
Mrs Hunter said the men and women who took part in the swimming carnival attend the LiveBetter program for a variety of reasons.

She said those reasons range from physical, intellectual and mental health conditions.
There was about 30 Orange swimmers from the Active Participation Program and 15 from Vocational Services.
LiveBetter staff helped out in the water by supporting the swimmers when it was required.
Mrs Hunter said the annual swimming carnival is a chance for attendees to socialise and be a bit competitive.
"It builds social skills and encourages them to bring out their competitive streak," she said.
"You can see how proud and happy it makes everyone."
Mrs Hunter said there was no stand out performer on the day, with the winning result a contribution from many.
"It was an across the board effort," she said.
LiveBetter is a not-for-profit organisation which provides aged care, disability support and other community services at locations across regional Australia.
