The eight year old has Feline Immunodeficiency Virus, a disease in cats that is quite similar to human HIV/AIDS.
When suffering from FIV a cat's immune system is severely weakened, which makes the cat susceptible to various secondary infections.
The RSPCA strongly recommends Sox remain an indoor-only cat so he doesn’t spread the disease or contract any of these infections.
They also recommend Sox be adopted to a household with no other cats.
Sox is very affectionate, and loves to be cuddled. The Orange RSPCA Shelter invites you to come and meet him at their shelter, located at 71 William Street. Contact: 6362 6171.
