I believe I am the oldest living male direct descendant of James Dalton. I forward you some comments regarding this beautiful city that are very close to my heart.
Orange City Council makes it their first priority to secure guaranteed and adequate water supply for industries, houses and parks of this beautiful city, so that it may never be subject to water restrictions again.
The council makes it their second priority to ensure the protection of all the English and European trees and shrubs in Orange and its surrounds.
Some believe these should be replaced with natives, which would have a devastating result, as the town is known and loved for its deciduous beauty.

At the function on Saturday, March 16, held at Duntryleague, there will be an appeal for donations to upgrade and carry out maintenance of this iconic building, estimated at $1 million.
On top of this, may I suggest that the council place a levy of - for example, 50 cents a week on all households, $15 a week for businesses with a turnover of up to $1 million, $40 a week for businesses with a turnover between $1 million and $3 million, and so on - to raise funds specifically allocated for the preservation and maintenance of city icons, and to assist in projects that would benefit the whole district.
POLL: Have you say …
- Poll conducted by polldaddy
These funds would be placed in a trust and a select committee of people would voluntarily administer them – not for use of the council.
This has been done in areas of the Gold Coast with great success.
Yours sincerely,
Michael Dalton
