In May 2018 submissions were invited by Orange City Council regarding the proposal by mayor Reg Kidd to change the zoning of the old Moulder Street netball courts so they could be used for overflow temporary parking.

As I lodged a submission before the deadline of 5pm on June 12, 2018, I was advised I would be informed of when this matter would be considered by council.
To date, I have received no information pertaining to this report, and after reading your article on February 18 - 'Moulder Park option has merit: Turner' - I am wondering if a report has ever been prepared relating to this previous planning proposal by Cr Kidd, and if any submissions received were included.
I cannot understand why a public recreation area needs to be sacrificed, and money spent on developing a new car park in this area and not a functional green space.
Are only complaints and polls that support this agenda seen as having merit?

There are other options, like the potential to improve the Ophir car park.

If a complaint from a Moulder Street resident regarding the difficulty of parking in front of their home and a poll conducted by the Central Western Daily is “a positive indication the CBD is continuing to grow”, as councillor Russell Turner said, then why isn’t this parking space being redeveloped, given its proximity to the CBD?
Could the possibility of multi-storey, undercover parking with lights and security be explored to give current and future patrons something worth paying for? Or, alternatively, leave it as it is and make it free.
I was also under the impression that the site of the CF Williams building in Peisley Street was purchased by council for parking, but there seems to be no mention of the development or potential for this site.
Could changing the zoning of the old netball courts for parking be a trojan horse making way for some other order of business?
