Thirteen juniors from various schools in Orange tried out to qualify for the Western side.
Those trials will be held on March 6 in Parkes, where afterwards the students who did well are trialled again for the Western Team.
Four boys and four girls were selected by Callam Harvey from Bowen School, who was the coordinator on the day. Successful students were Gus McDonald, Hayden Maw, Sam Rollin and Billy Rollin along with Stephanie Gersbach, Ruby Holmes, Eleanor Doyle, and Molly Harper.
The first Junior Development Series (JDS) tournament for the year was held at Bathurst last Sunday. Our Club representative was nine-year-old Kaydn McLachlan who won three matches out of five which progressed him to the quarter finals where he went down 6-3.
He felt he played very well in this match, considering he came up against the number one seed and also only started playing tennis early last year.
A good number of juniors rocked up for the Turn Up Tuesday Competition this week.
First in the girls was Olivia Hazelton on 18 games, a close second on 17 games was Georgia Oats. In the boys was Max Reidy on 18 games, Rangi Smith in second place on 16 games. New kids are welcome to join in, with the only requirement needed is to be able to serve.
