ORANGE is about to get a real taste of Italy thanks to business partners Sarah Quigley and Andrew Hamilton.
The pair are preparing to open the Spilt Milk Bar behind Percy's Bar and Kitchen in late April after spending three weeks in Italy learning how to make gelato.
Mr Hamilton said it would use fresh produce from the area and Little Big Dairy Co milk as a base.
"We're making it totally from scratch," he said.
Mrs Quigley said Mr Hamilton and her husband had been friends for a long time.
"He fell in love with my cooking and decided I was the girl to make gelato with," she said.
For Orange's cold winters, she said richer flavours were planned, as well as home delivery.
They have a Piaggio Ape, also known as a VespaCar, on the way to take their product on the road.
"It's one-of-a-kind, we had one built specifically," Mr Hamilton said.
COMPANY CEMENTS ITS SPOT IN THE REGION
AFTER success in Dubbo, Concrete World Industries has started a second branch in Orange.
After opening its doors at Barrett Court late last month, financial controller Belinda Newham said the company was already eyeing off large commercial contracts in the area.
"We had existing customers here and we wanted to be able to service them better and no one was doing what we do," she said.
"It's a balance between the [residential and commercial sectors] but obviously the new home slabs going down are a big part of the business," she said.
The company employs six people in Orange, providing materials necessary to form concrete slabs, from chemicals and equipment to processing the steel on site.

Benchmark Commercial's David Hall said when it was on the market in 2016, it still traded as a pub.
"Last time it was almost a redevelopment site, now it's essentially a new building," he said.
