The 25-year-old grew up in Parkes and first left to study psychology at Charles Sturt University’s Wagga Wagga campus seven years ago.
“It was a bit daunting to start with because it was my first time away from home, but I didn’t have any preconceived ideas and took it as it came,” he said.
It is advice he offers to other first-time students – now studying his third year of a Bachelor of Physiotherapy at the Orange campus, Mr Dolbel will be head resident this year.
“My previous residential advisors, ResLIFE staff and peers have always created strong community environment that has always felt like extended family and a home away from home,” he said.
“Having completed a degree on another Charles Sturt campus, and stayed at nearly all the others, I think by far Orange is my favourite.

“Being one of the smaller campuses, I love the atmosphere, familiar faces, and diverse culture.”
This year’s Orientation on Campus activities are still being planned, but Mr Dolbel said the aim was to mix up the offerings and cater them to the current group.
“We want to have lots of small activities to get people involved,” he said.
“We have an international student [on board] this year so we’re keen to link in with him and get the international students more involved.”
He said he particularly enjoyed the small-scale activities to fill spare time.
“Whether it be walking around Mount Canobolas, or a ‘social’ game of tennis,” he said.
