A rail tunnel could be incorporated at the same time, which would get the freight to and from the new inland rail line faster.
Our premier is always talking how good her government is about building or digging infrastructure.
In the past they tunnelled under Sydney Harbour, tunnelled from Epping to Chatswood very deeply to go under the Lane Cove River, presently they are finishing off the rail tunnel from Epping to Kellyville. Now they are tunnelling from Hornsby to Beecroft for road traffic.
All in high-density industrial and housing areas. None of these problems exist going under the mountains, and the financial and social benefits would be enormous.
With a little more expense while creating a road tunnel, a rail tunnel could be incorporated at the same time, which would get the freight to and from the new inland rail line faster.
