Adults are encouraged to get a team of four together to solve a series of puzzles to find their way out of a room in the library - while time ticks away.
Groups will have one hour to find their way out.
The escape room activity uses ideas from the book The Lost Thing by Shaun Tan.
Orange City Librarian Sean Brady said the book is about a young man who discovered a lost thing on the beach and has to find out where its home is.
The protagonists' inquiries and exploration lead him to a clue which sends him on a journey of discovery through his city.
Mr Brady said the book is at times quite dark, raising the issue of how people in urban environments can become less socially connected and aware.

"It's a commentary on belonging in a heavily industrialised urban environment and a sense of unbelonging many people might have," he said.
The free grownup activity is for those aged 16 and up or for a family team which includes children older than 10 and at least one adult. There are four sessions on both Saturday and Sunday.
Anyone looking to can book online through Eventbrite or call the Library.
