Hannah Orrock from Molong and Maria Shaw from Orange have joined forces to present their mixed medium show Yan, Tan, Tethera.
Having studied art in Sydney (Mrs Orrock) and Canberra (Mrs Shaw) the painter and sculpturist now call the Central West home.
Mrs Orrock said Yan, Tan, Tethera are words from an ancient system of counting used by shepherds in northern England.
"The phrase 'counting sheep' was the point of departure from which each artist who had created a body of work built around the ideas of dreams and reality and the interactions between the world of animals and humans," she said.
Mrs Orrock described her art as "very playful - using humour, animals and the Australian landscape."
"A lot of it has humour it it but it has a deeper message in it about our relationship with the land," she said.
Mrs Orrock paints on recycled linoleum, while Ms Shaw uses recycled materials to create her sculptures.
The duo's vibrant and diverse collection of paintings and sculptures are on display now until February 24.
Yan, Tan, Tethera will officially open at the gallery on Friday with drinks and nibbles from 5:30 pm.
