Randi Ann Birkin, 34, of Thomas Street, got into an argument with the male victim, who she knew, at the Royal Hotel before she assaulted him on September 29.

According to police, she yelled at the man and stuck her middle finger up at him when she saw him at the hotel at 2.20am.

Birkin and the man then got into an argument and she threw the liquid from her drink at him, and during the ongoing confrontation she struck him in the face then as they were being separated she reached over another person and punched him.

Mr Day took into account the early guilty plea and acknowledged Birkin’s service to the United States Airforce but said her actions required a conviction.

Mr Day also issued a two-year apprehended violence order to protect the victim.
