Among the radical faithful, brand logos are tattooed on upper arms and babies are still being christened ‘Brock’.
And the battle will be fought again at Sir Jack Brabham Park on Saturday at the annual Gnoo Blas Classic car show.
The show, now considered among the biggest and best in country NSW, attracts more than 500 entrants.
But this year, a new element will enter the mix: the now-popular Ford Mustangs.
They’ll fight it out for the best marque – along with a fleet of other Fords and Holdens of all models – for the special awards at the weekend’s edition of the popular car show.
Orange enthusiast Paddy Ward is the proud owner of a specially-imported Mustang that’s fitted with all the trick gear, and he was confident it will outshine any Holden come Saturday.
Mr Ward will also have trucks at the show that will attract lots of attention from spectators.
MAP: Where will the car show be held …
The show will feature almost every make of car from the small Goggomobil Dart to Pontiacs, Mercedes, Jaguars, Alfa Romeos, BMW, Triumph, MG, Bristol, numerous Holden models from the FJ and Torana onwards and Falcon GTs to Volkswagens, Morris Minors and Minis to Holden and Ford street cars and motorcycles and trucks.
The show, now considered among the biggest and best in country NSW, attracts more than 500 entrants.
There will be special guests including international driver and Le Mans 24-hour winner Vern Schuppan, V8 team owner Garry Rogers, and former Gold Star winner Spencer Martin.
They’ll be available for autographs during the day, and will be at an enthusiasts’ dinner to be held at Orange Ex-Services’ Club on Saturday night.
Alan Webber, father of former Formula One driver Mark, will also be in attendance.
On Sunday morning entrants will go on a short scenic drive for morning tea before returning for lunch in Cook Park.
