On her visit to Orange on Wednesday, the NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian stated “I do not think it’s OK to give guns to 10-year-olds, but they’re the type of policies that the Shooters [Fishers and Farmers Party] support”.
I wholeheartedly agree with the NSW Premier’s comments.
The NSW Shooters Party may deny it now, but what will their policy be after the election?
Ms Berejiklian was referring to the NSW Shooters Party, when in 2017 their policy was they wanted to allow primary school-aged students to be allowed to use firearms.
Mr Donato’s colleague in the NSW Legislative Council, Mr Robert Borsak, has been quoted as saying, “the Shooters, Fishers and Farmers Party would be happy to see minors permits for firearms use to be reduced from 12 years of age to 10 years”.
Mr Donato himself called for the lowering of age from 12 years to 10 years of age.
It is convenient for Mr Donato to state his party has no policy for 10-year-olds to access guns and allege scare mongering, however the facts on his party’s position on this issue is laid bare for all to see.
The NSW Shooters Party may deny it now, but what will their policy be after the election?
