Kinross Wolaroi student Jasper Mihalich is about to do what many young people do by travelling to the UK – but he’s going to have slightly more luggage than most and be seeing slightly less sights.

The 17-year-old musician has been accepted into the Sydney Youth Orchestra’s tour in April, and will have the most luggage of anyone as he lugs around his tuba.
“I’m really exicted for it, it’s going to be an awesome experience heading away to play with professional orchestras,” he said.
“I put my application in in July last year and almost forgot about it and we got the letter and I was ecstatic.”
However, he’s making the most of his big luggage, auctioning off sticker space on the tuba case for people who donate to his fundraiser to cover costs.
“If someone donates, there’ll be a sticker name-tag I can put on my case, businesses get their logo thrown on them,” he said.
He’s hoping to raise $6500 for the trip, and has already clocked over $1000 – with hopefully more to come at a charity performance later this month.
The performance – “All About That Bass” – is on February 24 at the Orange Conservatorium and will feature eight of his friends on stage, with proceeds going towards the trip.
