The names David Collins and Shane Dundas probably don’t ring a bell, but that’s probably because the Australian comedic duo are better known as The Umbilical Brothers – and they are bringing their Speedmouse show to the Central West.

David and Shane have been performing as The Umbilical Brothers for almost 28 years and will play in Orange and Bathurst this month.
Their high energy performances using mime with vocal and sound effects have become an international phenomenon.
“We’re good mates, and we were (friends) before we started working together,” David said.
And they’re a much better audience than snobby Sydney or Melbourne.

Speedmouse was first released in 2004 and David said it has been their most popular show which is why they’re taking it on the road again.
If you’re an avid fan of the duo and have seen Speedmouse previously - whether live or on television – you’ll be pleased to know that new material has been added to the show.
“We don’t want people to see the same joke … many details have changed,” David said.
David and Shane have performed in more than 40 dcountries, with Argentina being their second biggest online audience despite them never having performed there.
What makes the Umbilical Brothers so popular overseas is Australians’ sensibility, David believes.
David said it was important to take the show to regional places because of the audiences’ honesty and appreciation.
“And they’re a much better audience than snobby Sydney or Melbourne,” he laughed.
David said if Central West audiences don’t like anything in the show, he and Shane will know about it.
“When we’re creating these shows, they’re (regional towns) the first places we take it because they’re so honest,” he said. “And audiences just appreciate the visit, it’s just so nice.”
After performing together for almost 30 years, David said it was important for the pair to still make each other laugh.
“When we’re having fun the audience is having fun,” he said.
Speedmouse will be at Orange Civic Theatre on Saturday, February 16 (phone 6393 8111) and Bathurst Memorial Entertainment Centre on Sunday, February 17 (phone 6333 6161).
