The Adelaide stalwart will captain an all-indigenous side against three other composite teams in the short-format AFLX on February 22.

"I have always had a dream about putting an indigenous side together and playing against the best players in the AFL," Betts said on Tuesday.

"This is kind of the same, but not as big - it's a mini-version of it. It's like a dream come true.

"If you asked anyone, if you wanted to play a game early on in the pre-season against the best players in the AFL, you'd take that any day of the week."

Each of the four AFLX teams will have 14 players in a squad, with eight on the field at any one time.

Betts said he was still pondering who to pick for his indigenous outfit, to play against teams captained by Patrick Dangerfield, Nat Fyfe and Jack Riewoldt in the one-off tournament at Melbourne's Marvel Stadium.

The squads will be decided at a draft on February 6.

"I'm still indecisive on who I'm going to pick" Betts said.

"There's a lot of great talent out there, I never thought it would be this hard.

"You look at all the Aboriginal players in the League, they're so skillful and so talented."
