The study was completed in time for the TAFE NSW InfoFest, which will run from Monday to Friday in Orange so school leavers and people looking for a change of career can see the course options.
TAFE NSW regional general manager Kate Baxter said the study predicted growth in full-time employment opportunities as a result of a current skills shortage, aging population and large scale investments in the region.
“The Orange and Central West region is experiencing a shortage of local, skilled workers in a number of areas including aged and disabled care, pre-primary school teaching and childcare and construction,” Ms Baxter said.
“Our population is aging and with the extension and construction of new transport corridors, and the construction and development of a number of new health care and childcare facilities, this will continue to generate increased demand for skilled workers.
“TAFE NSW offers a range of qualifications across industry growth areas including nursing, aged and disabled care, community services, early childhood education, building, carpentry and bricklaying – just to name a few.”
In addition to attending the InfoFest this week, people can also attend online information sessions at www.tafensw.edu.au.
InfoFest activities will include campus tours, a barbecue lunch on Monday, career advice, evening information sessions, daytime information sessions.
There will be aged care information sessions and demonstrations on Wednesday between 10am and 4pm, nursing information session and demonstrations on Wednesday from 10am to 4pm, building information sessions and demonstrations from Tuesday to Friday between 10am and11am, early childhood education and care information sessions and demonstrations from Tuesday to Friday from 10am to 11am.
