The hockey and softball young gun starred as one of NSW’s best players on the court to take out the Under 18s Women’s National Indoor Hockey Championships in Goulburn last week. 

Remarkably, it was the Confederate goalsneak’s first time playing indoor hockey for her state side, and she took to it like a duck to water. 

Reith-Snare found the back of the net nine times in seven games, including a phenomenal six times in a 10-0 victory over Tasmania on the tournament’s second day, in which she was one of only two NSW players to be named player of the match. 

NSW were unbeaten through the tournament, claiming a 7-2 victory in the final on Thursday against Western Australia. 

While Reith-Snare lauded NSW’s opponents in the grand final – “they’re a team who never give up” – she said her side had gelled well.

“As a team we got better in each game which was great,” she said.

“Winning was a great way to finish the tournament and a reward for all our hard work and training.” 

The 17-year-old has had a fast start to 2019, having been awarded a scholarship with the NSW Institute of Sport for hockey, which means more trips to Sydney throughout the year to develop her skills.

She’ll have the chance to work with former Australian player and NSW coach Katrina Powell as head honcho

“I am very excited, it's an unreal opportunity,” Reith-Snare said.

“I feel very privileged and want to make the most of this opportunity. I had Katrina last year for Under-18s when we won the national title and she is fantastic.” 

Under-18 state trials for hockey will be held in two weeks which Reith-Snare will line up for, and she’s confirmed she’ll be back for another season of Premier League Hockey in the Central West.
