NSW lost to Queensland 6-5 in the final, with Queensland hitting two runs in their final innings and holding NSW scoreless in their seventh innings to win the match.
Keed scored 10 runs from NSW’s 14 games, including their 10-3 win over Queensland just before the final.
Further west, Alana Tracey, Ineke Keed and Montana Griffith were part of the NSW Country side which finished seventh at the Under 15 Girls’ Regional Softball Championships in Western Australia.
The tournament wrapped up last week in Mirrabooka.
The side won five of their 12 games, losing six and holding on for an 8-all draw in their second game against Queensland Fire after defeating their stablemates Queensland Flame 13-4 in their opening match.
Their run included a 17-0 smashing of WA White and a 14-3 drubbing of WA Gold, with their worst loss a 12-1 defeat at the hands of runners-up SA Gold.
NSW Metro Orange won the tournament.
Meanwhile in Canberra, the under-15 boys’ NSW Country squad has won five of its eight game heading into the final day of regular competition.
Orange is represented by Nathan Hewitt, Finley Gutherson and Ky Hurst in that squad, with the trio’s final regular game scheduled for late Friday afternoon.
If NSW Country win that game, they will progress to a series of two knock-out finals – one late on Friday night and the second on Saturday morning to play off for a grand final spot.
The grand final will be held on Saturday afternoon.
