Orange Relay for Life committee member Ella Lamrock, 14, is coordinating the Chop Your Locks initiative at this year’s Cancer Council fundraising event and is setting about finding hairdressers and hair donation options.
“I did that because I wanted to chop my hair off,” Ella said.
If people have long hair and they want to chop it off they could wait a little while.

“Another big part of it is the fund raising, it’s important that we get the funds to make the wigs and provide funds for transport for cancer patients and everything else that Relay for Life does.”
She said she previously cut her hair for charity when she was in year 5 at school and now she is calling on other people to join her and donate to the cause.
“I’m just trying to get as many people as possible to do it,” Ella said.

Ella said a friend’s mother and family members have gone through cancer battles but she took part in her first Relay for Life when she was in year 6 after hearing it on the radio and because her brother was doing it.
The Chop Your Locks fundraising cut will be held at the Orange Relay for Life at Waratahs Sportsground at 2.30pm on April 6. The relay will be run on April 6 and 7.
