Mr McCormack refused to rule out low-profile NSW MP Andrew Gee as a replacement for Mr Broad, who resigned as the deputy prime minister's assistant after a scandal involving a younger woman.
"Andrew Gee continues to do a fine job for the people of Central West, just like every other National Party member does for their region," Mr McCormack told reporters on Wednesday.
"We're not focused on ourselves; we're focused on the people we serve."
He said an announcement would be made "very soon".
Mr Broad will retire from politics at the next election after being embroiled in a texting scandal with a woman from a "sugar daddy" website.
His replacement for the Victorian seat of Mallee will be chosen by a ballot of Nationals members on Saturday, with six candidates vying for pre-selection.
