The Australian ODI captain made just six before being bowled - the fifth time in his past eight one-day innings he had been dismissed in that fashion.

Finch aimed a big drive at a fullish Bhuvneshwar Kumar delivery but managed only an inside edge onto his stumps.

"It's a similar story for Aaron Finch," ex-Australian great Adam Gilchrist said while commentating for Fox Sports.

"There's a glaring issue for the Australian captain ... (he) will not want to watch that replay."

Finch was axed from Australia's Test team after making just 97 runs at an average of 16.16 in the initial three Tests in the just-completed series against India.

And in Saturday's series-opening ODI in Sydney, the Victorian was also dismissed for six when bowled by Kumar.

Finch struggled as well in Australia's ODI series last November against South Africa, making only 57 runs at an average of 19 in the three-match series.

Since making a century against England in a one-dayer in June last year, Finch has recorded scores of 22, five, 41, 11, six and six in ODI cricket.
