It could have been far, far more with City at 7-54 before a rear-guard action from Brett Causer (38) and Shaun Kirby (41) – who was dropped early – helped them scratch their way to 132 in reply to Cavaliers’ 249.
Despite being the catalyst for Cavs’ scoreline with a hard-hitting 80, all-rounder Josh Doherty said while teammates pitched in, the win belonged to Mitch Black.
It was always going to be tough for them to chase but Mitch Black made it impossible.

“He’s a freak,” Doherty said.
“He nearly had more overs than he had runs against him.”
Black finished his maximum 10 overs in the 50-over game with 4-14 – after a late-innings cameo of 38 with the bat and Doherty said the dot-ball pressure the left-arm orthodox put on was immense.
“It was just dot-ball pressure, 250 was always going to be tough for them to chase but he made it impossible,” Doherty said.
Cavs were sent in by skipper Ed Morrish with the wicket threatening to be tricky early, but openers Ryan Kurts (17) and Kaleb Cook (15) both started well before being dismissed, and Doherty said the pitch “flattened out well”.
“I hadn’t picked up a bat for a while but often that can work for me as I tend to go back to basics,” he said.
“Gave a few chances but that’s cricket.”
He said taking home a win against the Warriors was always a big scalp, and the victory was the prefect start to the 2019 season, closing the gap on the top-placed CYMS and City, who are first and second.
“City’s probably been the benchmark for the past few years so it’s always good to get a win over them,” Doherty said.
