Classes resume for term one on February 4 and anyone interested is encouraged to enrol next week.
U3A committee member and publicity officer Jean Penrose said although traditionally aimed at retirees, U3A no longer has an age limit.
Along with volunteering on the committee Mrs Penrose also participates in cryptic crossword and art appreciation classes and said although it has university in the name it is not all about studying or attending lectures.
“There are 20 plus courses that we run in Orange,” she said.
“We have about 270 members. It runs Monday to Friday all day, there’s lots of things going on.”
Mrs Penrose said she signed on because she was looking for something to keep her busy in her retirement .
“There’s arts, you can paint, you can art appreciate, draw,” she said.
“Then there’s the discussion groups where you can bend your mind.”
Other classes include geology, book study groups, creative writing, history, and this year U3A will offer chemistry in Orange.
The U3A enrolment day is on January 24 at the Orange City Centre from 9.30am to 2pm or for more information phone 0410 355 328 or visit www.orange.u3anet.org.au.
On January 30 U3A will also host an open day at the Orange Senior Citizens and Pensioners Centre in Kite Street at 10am.
