In lieu of the usual monthly lunch, 90 people gathered for a high tea at the Dalton Room at Duntryleague to raise money for The Smith Family.
Sub-committee member Glenys Grimmett said the club was formed to raise money for The Smith Family and the $750 raised on Friday will go to its Learning for Life children’s education program and the two Orange students who are directly supported by the club.
“That will go a long way towards our supplies for our two students,” she said.
Mrs Grimmett said it was the second year the club has hosted the social fundraising event before regular meetings resume in February and Friday’s high tea had double the attendance of the inaugural event in 2018.
She said planning is already underway for next year’s Mad Hatter Themed high tea.
The club meets on the last Friday of each month at the Orange Ex-Services’ Club for a meal and to hear guest speakers.
