According to police, Mark Andrew Timms, 53, of Shadforth Street, Molong, had been in a conflict with residents from the house in Dean Street, Molong, before he went there about 7.30pm on August 26.
Police said Timms drank alcohol before he went to the house to confront one of the occupants, who he said had been in his yard earlier that day.
Timms entered the house through an open sliding door and went into the front room of the house before going into a bedroom that belonged to the man who he had a problem with.
He went there believing he could go there and obtain property belonging to him.

He got angry and smashed two windows after seeing his multigrip tool in the room.
Timms’ solicitor Jo Collings said the report tendered to the court understated what happened.
“Half an hour after he lost his temper and broke the window of the house he was badly assaulted by some of the occupants of the house,” she said.
Magistrate David Day gave Timms a six-month conditional release order, which was the equivalent of a good behaviour bond for trespassing.
He also gave Timms a 15-month conditional release order for damaging a window pane in a door.
“I think a conditional release order with conviction is an appropriate penalty,” Mr Day said.
“He trespassed on property and managed to lose his temper on the premises.
“He went there believing he could go there and obtain property belonging to him.”
Mr Day said he took into account early guilty pleas but said Timms had form “going back a long way”.
