The Indian Pacific passes through Orange on its way between Sydney and Perth, but last month, mayor Reg Kidd asked for action to restore the stop.
He enlisted the help of member for Orange Phil Donato, who said he had written to Transport Minister Andrew Constance and was still awaiting a reply.
“It’s important to have a connection, especially for tourism,” he said.
An Indian Pacific spokeswoman said the stop was removed in April due to low passenger numbers and the addition of an excursion in the Blue Mountains.
“The last person who got off at Orange was on October 10, 2017,” she said.
The train still stops at Broken Hill and Mount Victoria.
