Cumming spun Central Northern’s batters into a spin to restrict the side to 9-111 from their 20 overs, Cumming taking 4-17 from his four overs, while Harry Bayliss chipped in with 3-15 from three. 

Coady then put Western’s chase on the front foot with a near run-a-ball 47 at the top of the order before Jesse Sprang (26 off 27) and Blake Weymouth (18 not out off eight) saw the side home.

Weymouth’s unbeaten innings built on his 84 on Monday and 71 on Tuesday in Western’s rain-affected win over North Coastal. 

He and Ben Schofield put on 144 for the first wicket in their chase of 263, but the side were given first-innings points in the game finishing at 5-208 off 34.5 overs with Hugh Middleton (10 not out) and Kieran Rosenbaum (30 not out) guiding Western home. 

Sprang took 4-49 with the ball to be the pick of Western’s bowlers on Tuesday. 

Western play another game on Wednesday afternoon before their final match on Thursday. 

Meanwhile in the Kookaburra Cup, Western suffered their third loss from three games after falling in both Twenty20 games on Tuesday. 

Central Northern chased down Western’s total of 6-102 from their 20 overs with two balls to spare on the back of an unbeaten knock from opener Charlie Henderson. 

Ant Antlee led the way for Western with bat and ball, taking 2-19 and scoring a run-a-ball 46 at the top of the order with Murray Fisher (26 from 31), but the side fell away when the pair were dismissed, falling from 0-70 to 5-102. 

Atlee hit 44 in the next game as the side posted 104, which was easily chased down by Central Coast with 3.5 overs remaining despite Luke Rummans’ best effort with the ball, taking 2-11 off four.
