The incident was the latest in a string of similar crimes, including an earlier car fire this year when a vehicle that had been left outside the Ophir Hotel was burned on Saturday morning.
And on the first day of 2019, fire gutted a caravan that was parked in McLachlan Street. The unattended caravan had been parked near the intersection with Bletchington Street next to a vacant block.
While late last year, a car was found alight – the eighth burned-out vehicle in Orange in December – in Clifton Grove on Banjo Paterson Way, with police and NSW Rural Fire Service volunteers called to the scene.
Anyone with information that might assist police investigations is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
