The star of Getaway will head to Orange to speak to crowds at Cook Park on January 26 for the second time, after taking on the role in 2009.
Residents will have the chance to meet Ms Rowntree during the Party in the Park celebrations, which includes a barbeque, live music, markets and activities for children.
The Australia Day celebration will also include the announcement of the Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year, Local Legend, Community Event of the Year, Community Groups of the Year and a business which demonstrated philanthropy.
Mayor Reg Kidd said Ms Rowntree was an inspirational woman who had become one of the most recognisable faces on television.
“I believe her story will provide the inspiration and context for Orange’s young people who are on the cusp of their careers,” he said.
“Ms Rowntree is a highly sought-after public speaker and MC who has been described as incredibly witty and spontaneous.”
Throughout her 30 year career, Ms Rowntree has hosted several popular Australian television shows including What’s Up Doc, Funniest Home Videos and the Logies Red Carpet Arrivals.
