Ron Hall, 74, said he couldn’t believe someone would steal a scooter.
Orange police are now seeking three young men accused of stealing and damaging the $3500 machine.
Mr Hall said he parked the scooter next to a house in Lewana Place where he was visiting a friend on Saturday morning.
Three boys were doing wheelies on it down at Kmart.

“It was right against the house. I was sitting inside and I looked out and my scooter was missing,” he said.
“I left the keys in it but I thought it was pretty safe.”
Mr Hall said he called police to report the theft at 11.27am.
“I was so shocked. I didn’t think it would ever happen,” he said.

Just 13 minutes later he was told “three boys were doing wheelies on it down at Kmart” but the trio ran off before police could arrest them.
“They wrecked the front end of the scooter. They hit something pretty hard,” he said.
“They escaped, they jumped off. They grabbed the basket, all my personal details were in it, my Bankcard.”
He said they even took the bright orange scooter flag off the back of the machine.

“I don’t know why they did that,” he said.
Mr Hall said while the scooter was recovered it would need repairing and was not insured.
“I didn’t think anything about getting it insured,” he said.
Mr Hall said he had contacted a mobility vehicle store in Orange about getting it fixed.
“They are going to pick it up and see if it can be repaired,” he said.
Mr Hall said he had saved up to buy the scooter and was concerned about being able to afford the repairs or a new one on the aged pension.
He said according to his mobility scooter manual the machine had a top speed of about 11 km/h. “They can do a little bit more,” he said.
Police confirmed the theft and said they were looking for three young men.
