The push to have the team return was led by former Orange basketballer Adam Slattery, who was the mastermind behind the side’s visit a little over 12 months ago.
Orange Netball Association president Jane Dennis welcomed the return, saying she hoped it would help encourage more men to come try the sport, and add to the roughly 100 male netballers lining up in the mid-week mixed competition.
“We absolutely do [want more men involved], it’s really good for the mid-week competition,” she said.
“Their skill level is really good and it adds a different dynamic to the game.”
Dennis said the exhibition game would hopefully contain as many men as possible, with the association taking expressions of interest.
“We want to get as many players as we can,” she said.
A clinic will run for any and all comers at the PCYC from 9am to 11am, while the exhibition match will take place between the NSW side and a mixed team from the ONA’s division one sides from 11.30am on court one.
Anyone interested in taking part in the exhibition game is encouraged to contact orangenetball1@bigpond.com.
