CHRIS Tremain might freely admit breaking into the Australian Test team this summer is unlikely, but there is at least one man who believes the Yeoval quick would handle the challenge if it came.

That man is Bathurst’s Trent Copeland, a bowler who knows firsthand just how hard it is to earn a baggy green.
Copeland played three Tests for Australia in 2011 and while he has been once of the most consistently strong bowlers in the Sheffield Shield competition since then for NSW, has not earned a recall.
With Nathan Lyon, Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood seen as the real strength of Australia’s current Test team, it is highly unlikely any of them will be dropped.
I’m sure he’ll be ready when his chance comes.
- Trent Copeland speaking about Chris Tremain
Copeland knows that Tremain’s best shot at a Test debut – he is currently one of the reserve pacemen –is if one of those four is injured or rested. However, he feels the Western Zone graduate would be able step up if given the nod by selectors.
“I think it’s probably dependant upon fitness, the bowling attack we’ve got at the moment is really world-class. But Tremers is obviously there and thereabouts,” Copeland said.
“He’s always taking wickets in shield cricket when he gets the chance.
“He’s like a lot of Aussie bowlers in the past, he’s waiting in the wings for his opportunity, but I’m sure he’ll be ready when his chance comes.”
Tremain has taken 28 shield wickets so far this season for Victoria at an average of 23.60, his best haul being a 5-13 against Tasmania.
