Dubbo Westview Drive-In operator Jason Yelverton said there had been a lot of interest in its Bohemian Rhapsody event.

“It’s a really good energy on the site already and I think that movie’s going to get the crowd involved as well,” Mr Yelverton said.

Five weeks after its release in November, Bohemian Rhapsody became the highest-grossing musical biographic film ever made.

“It’s an amazing movie, I actually was sitting in the cinema with my wife and we started clapping and singing along in some of the scenes,” Mr Yelverton said.

“I guess, some of the scenes of Live Aid... at Wembley Stadium where it was in the open, I thought that’s going to be so great here being out in the open as well.

“Feel a little bit like you’re at the Live Aid concert yourself.”

Plans to open the drive-in one weekend a month were announced late last year.

Mr Yelverton reported it received no government or council funding and that “every cent we’ve got so far has gone back into the site”.

“We’ve got a lot of work to do in trying to revive the site, so we really need people’s support,” he said.
