THE last rain shower of 2018 subsided in time to ensure thousands in Orange saw in the new year with a bang, with the impressive fireworks display at McCormack Barber’s New Year’s Eve Party Under the Stars wowing a happy crowd at Waratahs.
The storms that loomed over the city on Monday afternoon – the same ones which forced the cancellation of Dubbo’s New Year’s Eve celebrations – had well and truly moved on by the time the night sky lit up just after 9pm.

Mother-of-three Sally Roberts has attended with her family for the past three years, and said the inclement weather early in the day had been no deterrent.
“It’s such a perfect event for families, there’s so much space for everyone,” she said.
“And the fireworks were the best yet. It was a great night.”
